How We Test GLOBEX VPN

How we test every server, every day

A VPN server that looks online is not the same thing as a VPN server that actually carries traffic. Our testing process checks the difference continuously: automated connection checks run against every server in the fleet around the clock, with a full pass across the whole fleet at least once an hour. A check that only confirms a socket opened is not good enough for us, so each pass also verifies the exit IP address — the address a website would actually see if you connected through that server — rather than stopping at "the connection accepted."

We do not publish the internal tooling or the exact schedule this runs on, for the same reason we do not publish server hostnames or a live map of which country runs which protocol: that level of detail is more useful to someone trying to block or fingerprint the service than it is to a user deciding whether to trust it. Real devices, not just servers

Automated server checks tell us the network path is alive. They do not tell us whether the Android app itself behaves correctly on a real phone — whether it connects, whether it survives the device sleeping, whether it reconnects cleanly after a network switch. For that we use real Android devices in our QA process alongside the automated checks, rather than relying on emulators or server-side metrics alone.

Running that for free costs real money in server capacity and bandwidth, and the free tier is funded by occasional ads rather than by selling browsing data. We would rather say that plainly than let a user assume the service appears out of nowhere. Premium removes the ads and adds priority server access and priority support; it does not unlock a faster or more secure connection engine, since all 8 protocols already run on the free tier.

The other trade-off worth naming is that no VPN, including this one, can promise a perfect connection on every network at every moment. Servers occasionally see congestion at peak hours, and some restrictive networks are harder to reach than others even with a protocol built for them. Our continuous testing process exists to catch and fix problems quickly, not to claim they never happen.
